Pumpkin spice lattes, candy apples, and multicoloured leaves may spring to mind when you think of October, but there’s another feature of this month that we look forward to every year. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month at Bayview Sheppard RMT and we’re seeing PINK everywhere!
Every October, our amazing team dons their favourite PINK scrubs and raises awareness for life-saving breast cancer research. We’re proud supporters of the Breast Cancer Society of Canada’s DRESS FOR THE CAUSE campaign. We have baked, raffled, and donated our way through October since 2015! We look forward to decorating the clinic every October in sparkling hues of our favourite colour – PINK!
The Breast Cancer Society of Canada is a registered national charity dedicated to saving lives through breast cancer research. According to the BCSC, breast cancer remains the most common cancer among Canadian women. In fact, as many as 1 in 8 women is likely to develop breast cancer in her lifetime. The BCSC is proud to announce that survival rates have improved since the mid-80’s due, in part, to research and better screening. If you are aged 50 to 75, the Ontario Breast Screening Program recommends that you are screened with mammography every 2 years. Speak to your doctor about risk factors and screening.
So, how can you get involved?
You can purchase a raffle ticket, at your next appointment, for a chance to win a 60-minute massage therapy gift certificate. Purchase 1 ticket for $2.00 or spend a little extra and purchase 10 tickets for $6.00. Remember, more tickets mean more chances to win!
